The model railway was developed over a period of 8 years using digital controls for the locos. The points were operated by switches on the control panel with LED's showing the direction of the points powered by switches on the point motors. Digital point accessory decoders have been installed to operate the 64 point motors. This has become affordable using kits supplied by the Model Electronic Railway Group http://www.merg.info . The ESU (Electric Solutions of Ulm) controller now has routes set to avoid derailments when points are set against the path of a train.

Using the S88 track occupancy sensors shuttle trains can be operated automatically. These accelerate and slow automatically at the main terminus with a user defined delay period. This has been made possible by the ESU ECOS controller.
